Explorer’s FAQ

Is it safe to travel to rural China?
Yes. Even remote areas are generally safe. However, English is less spoken, so have translation apps (like Alipay’s built-in translator) ready.
Do I need cash?
In cities, no. In very remote villages in Yunnan or Gansu, keeping 200-500 RMB cash is a good backup, though WeChat/Alipay works 99% of the time.
What about altitude sickness?
Shangri-La and parts of Western Sichuan are high altitude (3000m+). Acclimatize slowly and buy oxygen canisters locally if needed.
